Excel Interior Concepts and Construction is a family owned, full service Design/Build remodeling & custom home building company that has serviced the central Pennsylvania region since 1970. Excel Interior Concepts and Construction specializes in kitchen and bath remodeling, room additions, sunrooms, and custom homes.

The people at Excel Interior Concepts are in the business of improving the lives of those who come in contact with them. Excel applies this philosophy to its clients, its employees, its subcontractors and its vendors. Simply put, when high quality materials are put into the hands of skillful and dedicated craftsmen, the final product delights all.

Jim Mirando, Sr. started the company in 1970 as a developer and homebuilder. He has seen the company grow over the years to become one of "The Top 500" remodelers in the country. Jim Mirando, Jr. is president of Excel and runs the company started by his father. Jim Jr. holds a BS degree in Business Administration from Elizabethtown College. He also holds an MBA from Lebanon Valley College and is a member of the American Society of Interior Designers (ASID). Jim Jr. is also a Certified Kitchen Designer (CKD), a Certified Bath Designer (CBD), a Certified Graduate Remodeler (CGR), a Certified Graduate Builder (CGB), and a Certified Aging-in-place Specialist (CAPS).

Excel's 6,000 square foot showroom on South 3rd Street in Lemoyne is bursting with ideas for your home. The showroom offers kitchen, bath and sunroom displays so you can see for yourself the level of quality and refinement that goes into each Excel project. After one of Excel's designers visits a client's home to discuss their ideas for their project, a subsequent appointment is set up at the showroom. At the showroom, clients can view cabinets, countertops, flooring, ceramic tile, wallpaper, paint, windows, exterior finishes and plumbing fixtures firsthand instead of just imaging the look from a catalog. With everything before the client's eyes and with the expert help of a designer, the client begins to visualize the final product.

Excel employs 15 lead carpenters, each working on a one-project-at-a-time basis. Each carpenter stays with the project from beginning to end. Some of Excel's staff has been with Excel for more than 20 years.

Along with Jim Mirando, Jr., the design staff includes Pat Holjes, CKD, CBD, Brian Miller, Stacey McDermott, AKBD, Michelle Sauder, Jerry Leach and Erin Findley. Eric Bushey, EIT, CGR, and Mike Stauffer, CGR are the Project Coordinators. Bill Browning, CGR and Kyle Oliver, CGR are the Production Managers. Sue Ladd, CGR, GMB, is the Controller/Director of Operations and Heather Kotalik is the Office Manager.

Excel is a member of the Home Builders Association of Metro Harrisburg, National Kitchen and Bath Association, HBA Remodelers Council and both the West Shore and National Chambers of commerce. Excel has won Pyramid Awards, presented by the Harrisburg Home Builders Association, for the past several years. Excel has also won national awards from Qualified Remodeler magazine, Chrysalis Awards, and Professional Remodeler magazine. Excel has been recognized by Remodeling Magazine in its "Big 50", and by Qualified Remodeler magazine in its list of the nation's top 500 remodelers for over ten years. Excel’s work has been published locally and nationally in various magazines, newspapers, and design publications.
